MSU students interested in Asia can pursue the GLAS major with a concentration in Asian Studies. The GLAS major in the College of Social Science can be pursued by itself or along with another disciplinary minor or major. The Department of Linguistics and Languages at MSU also offers the East Asian Languages and Cultures major with emphasis in either Chinese (http://linglang.msu.edu/asian/chinese/undergrad.php) or Japanese (http://www.msu.edu/~endo/JPN/Jmajor.html). Students interested in majoring in East Asian Languages and Cultures should contact the Department of Linguistics and Languages.
The Asian Studies Specialization provides an opportunity for students to take courses across a wide variety of disciplines with Asia as the focus of study. Students may earn the Asian Studies Specialization in addition to any MSU major. Successful completion of the specialization is recorded on the student's academic transcript at graduation.
