S. C. Lee Best Paper Competition

Students in any field may submit a research paper completed for a course, or under the supervision of a faculty member, at MSU during the Spring, Summer or Fall semesters, 2008-2009, as long as the paper focuses on an Asian topic or has Asian content. Book reports or reviews are not eligible. The paper competition has two categories: enrolled undergraduate and graduate. Only one paper may be submitted by a student in the annual competition.

Each paper submitted must meet the following standards:

Typed, double-spaced, free of typo/spelling errors and any commentary by the professor who graded the original paper (this may mean retyping of paper before submitting to competition). Pages must be numbered plus a title page.

No reference on it to the writer or class for which it was written. A separate cover sheet (available from the Asian Studies Center or online below) must be submitted, containing the student's name, class for which the paper was written, and the signature of the professor.

Only ONE paper may be submitted by a student in the annual competition.

Any research paper written and completed for a course at MSU during Spring, Summer or Fall semesters is eligible, as long as its subject relates primarily to Asia. Book reports are not eligible.

Awards up to $1000 will be given for the best graduate and undergraduate papers.
